Qualifications

Working as a Senior Healthcare Support Worker in the Cardiac Unit, within the hospital setting, you will be carrying out assigned tasks involving direct patient care, whilst maintaining privacy and dignity of each patient. This will be whilst demonstrating excellent care, compassion and communication, and in support of and supervised by a Registered Nurse/Midwife or Nursing Associate.

Main duties of the job
  • Admitting patients and preparing patients for procedures.
  • Discharging patients once competent.
  • Moving & Handling of patients to support independence.
  • Infection Prevention and Control.
  • Safeguarding of adults and children.
  • Assisting in Pre-Assessment Clinics.
  • Undertaking blood and swabs clinics.
  • Taking and recording vital signs or other parameters such as height/weight, capillary blood glucose/ketones collection and sampling and urine sample collection and sampling.
  • Cannulating or blood collection, cannula removal, taking specimens/samples of any kind, simple dressings.
  • ECGs or setting up cardiac monitoring.
  • TR band management.
  • Stock control.
  • Recovery of patients post conscious sedation.
  • Hydration and Nutrition assistance.
  • Assistance with comfort and hygiene care.
