Job summary

A central London-based international trading company is seeking an experienced Group Accountant / Controller to manage financial operations. This role includes preparing financial statements, overseeing accounting processes, and providing insights for decision-making. The ideal candidate has a Bachelor’s in accounting or finance, CPA qualification, and at least 7 years of relevant experience, particularly in Energy or Commodities sectors. Strong analytical and communication skills are essential for this position.

Qualifications

Job description

Our client is an exciting Central London-based, international Energy & Commodity trading company seeking an experienced Group Accountant / Controller to join their growing business.

As a senior finance executive, you will play a crucial role in managing the financial operations of the company, ensuring accuracy in financial reporting, and supporting decision-making processes.

DUTIES INCLUDE
  • Prepare, analyse, and present financial statements for the company and its subsidiaries
  • Prepare, consolidate, and submit financial reports to regulatory authorities and stakeholders
  • Manage and oversee the day-to-day accounting operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger
  • Monitor cash flow and liquidity positions, providing regular updates to the management team
  • Provide financial analysis and insights to support decision-making processes, including pricing strategies and investment opportunities
  • Collaborate with internal departments and external auditors to ensure compliance with financial regulations and reporting standards
  • Assist in the development and implementation of financial policies, procedures, and controls
CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA qualification preferred
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in accounting or finance roles, preferably within Energy or Commodities, or Shipping / Mining
  • Strong experience with group consolidation
  • Strong experience with producing financial statements
  • Strong experience with general ledger functions and the month-end / year end close process
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles and regulations, including IFRS and GAAP
  • Able to work independently, and identify and raise concerns
  • Proficient in financial software and MS Office suite, with advanced Excel skills
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities, with a strong attention to detail
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams
