Senior Geotechnical/Geo-Environmental Engineer sought at this successful and growing SME Ground Investigation Consultancy. This role based in Manchester.

You will be encouraged and supported to progress professionally, refining your technical reporting skills, broadening your experience, and by participating in a variety of challenging and innovative projects across residential, commercial and civil engineering industries, including having responsibility for project management, reporting and accounting through the entire life cycle of a construction programme.
A full, clean Driving Licence and being based within an easily commutable distance to Manchester City Centre office are required for this job.
Responsibilities
- Co-ordination, supervision and management of ground investigations, including Phase 1 (desk-top) studies, Phase 2 (intrusive) investigations and subsequent monitoring and remediation works
- Ensuring the highest standards of health and safety are followed during all field work practices
- Authoring, reviewing and issuing of technical reports for clients including environmental risk assessments, remedial recommendations, foundation recommendations and coal mining risk assessments
- Liaising with clients, subcontractors and staff in both office and field settings, including taking leadership roles within meetings
- Supervising and assisting junior staff with reports, drawings, models and fee proposals and mentoring them through their career development
The ideal individual:
- At least 5 years into their career within the geo-environmental industry
- Working towards chartership with a relevant professional body
- Comfortable in client-facing situations including business development meetings
- Background in designing, organising and managing ground investigations utilising range of intrusive techniques both for contaminated land and geotechnical purposes
- Able to lead, manage and deliver technical projects, including preparing fee proposals and reports whilst understanding the financial implications of works
- Familiar with validation and verification techniques and reporting of such techniques
- Able to apply a commercial appraisal to projects, ensuring that value for money is paramount in all work undertaken.
- Attentive to fine details across all work they produce
- Self-motivated, proactive and confident in their ability to work independently and part of a team, while managing their own time to ensure deadlines are achieved
- A pragmatic thinker capable of anticipating problems ahead of time and determining appropriate & cost-effective solutions
- A full, clean Driving Licence and based within an easily commutable distance to Manchester City Centre office

- Salary £38,000 – £45,000

- External training courses – budgeted at £2000 per annum (first year)
- Home office annual budget of £200 per annum
- Guidance in pursuing chosen Chartership with fees for first application paid for by company and a £2000 Chartership bonus.
- Quarterly social events which are covered by the company
