A leading engineering firm in the United Kingdom is seeking a Senior Geotechnical Design Engineer to lead a team on major infrastructure projects involving Geotechnical Construction Phase Support on the HS2 route. The role requires hands-on site management, team leadership, and technical reporting. The position is an outside IR35 contract offering a daily rate of £350-£425. The office is located in Birmingham with a hybrid working arrangement, involving 3 days on-site and 2 remote.

Are you a senior geotechnical design engineer with experience of working on major infrastructure projects?

Are you looking for your next outside IR35 contract?

Rate: £350-£425 a day outside IR35

Location: Birmingham office 3 days a week - 2 from home

Contract length: Initial 6 months with likely extensions

Overview

The role requires a senior engineer to lead a team of engineers/graduates to support in managing the Geotechnical Construction Phase Support (CPS) on the HS2 route. The role will require managing the team delivering the Geotechnical CPS scope within a design area liaising with the technical lead and reporting to the Geotechnical CPS Discipline lead.

The role requires co-locating in the client's construction site offices on the eastern side of Birmingham at least 3 days per week.

In this role you will be supporting the contractor/ client on site managing issues that have arisen on site and supporting in validating design assumptions.

  • Inspection and Test Plans (ITP) - Secondary Assurance/Check
  • Field Change Requests (FCRs)- Technical Support
  • Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs)
  • Instrumentation and Monitoring (I&M)
  • Manage the undertaking of earthworks and geotechnical data logging
  • Geotechnical Feedback Report (GFR)
