On the AWS EMEA Data Center Finance Team you will be surrounded by exceptionally talented, bright, and driven people who believe world-class support is critical to customer success. To support this quickly growing business, you must be highly analytical with a strong passion for analytics and accountability, setting high standards, and razor-sharp accuracy. The successful candidate will work closely with a variety of stakeholders across functions to drive projects and initiatives, demonstrating strong judgment and leadership. This role requires a self-starter who can leverage analytical/technical skills and attention to detail to drive the business.

Key responsibilities
  • Serve as part of the regional leadership team responsible for delivering high-quality and robust decisions with favorable business outcomes.
  • Become subject matter expert for data center development and construction, including cost drivers, pertinent technology, vendors, customers served, and regional nuances.
  • Establish annual/monthly performance targets, analyze variances to plan, and communicate key messages to senior leadership.
  • Pinpoint defects or waste in processes, and drive new processes and automation to eliminate defects and prevent recurrence.
  • Identify and lead cost savings initiatives.
  • Data center capital expenditure approvals.
  • Support forecasting and month-end activities across the team and specific regions.
  • Identify opportunities to improve tools and processes to support the finance team and business partners.
A day in the life

Review business development proposals and convert deal requirements into financial models, to review performance against benchmarks and goals. Dive deep into deal specifics to help identify commercial opportunities to reduce overall deployment costs and improve use of AWS assets. Learn, understand, and challenge design decisions and seek best-in-class financial support for business partners to determine design plans for upcoming projects.

About the team

Our team is a high-impact finance unit supporting EMEA leaders in delivering the lowest cost of data center capacity for our customers. We help the business make the best decisions for our customers and aim to avoid constraints that would limit serving our clients.

Qualifications (selected)
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, statistics, or business, or a bachelor’s degree with experience in a quantitative role (engineering, process re-engineering, quality assurance).
  • Experience in tax, finance, or related analytical field.
  • Experience in accounts receivable or accounts payable.
  • Experience applying key financial performance indicators (KPIs) to analyses.
  • Experience creating process improvements with automation and analysis.
  • Experience identifying, leading, and executing opportunities to improve, automate, standardize, or simplify finance or business tools and processes.
  • Experience with advanced SQL for data mining and business intelligence.
  • MBA or CPA preferred.
  • Knowledge of Tableau.
  • Experience participating in continuous improvement projects to scale and improve controllership with measurable results.
  • Experience working with large-scale data mining and reporting tools (e.g., SQL, MS Access, Essbase, Cognos) and financial systems (e.g., Oracle, SAP, Lawson, JD Edwards).
