Senior Estimator - Civil Engineering

Are you an experienced Senior Estimator with a strong background in civil engineering works?

Carrington West is partnering with a leading contractor delivering self-delivery and subcontracted civils packages across infrastructure projects in the region.

This is an excellent opportunity to join a growing team pricing high-value tenders covering earthworks, highways, drainage, utilities, pipelines and reinforced concrete structures.

The Role

You will develop accurate and competitive estimates for multiple civil engineering tenders, collaborating with Bid, Operations and Planning teams to ensure scope, methodology and programme are fully aligned from first principles through to submission.

Key Responsibilities

• Review tender requirements and scope, attend site visits, and collaborate with Bid and Operational Support Teams
• Coordinate with the Estimating Buyer on material pricing and subcontractor quotations
• Work with Operations and the Planner to align resources, productions, programme and construction methodology
• Submit technical queries for tender clarity and review client pricing schedules for scope alignment
• Conduct take-offs for Bills of Quantities or Activity Schedules as required
• Prepare estimates for self-delivery works and assess specialist subcontract quotations
• Draft bid assumptions, qualifications and exclusions, and compile the project risk register
• Prepare reports and present Estimating slides at Tender Reviews for Director sign off
• Finalise pricing documents for submission, for example BOQs, Schedule of Cost Components and Daywork Rates
• Attend post-tender meetings, respond to pricing queries and track submission updates
• Prepare pricing handover files and brief Operations on tender details
• Undertake site visits on live projects to review delivery against tender allowances

About You

• Proven experience estimating civil engineering projects including earthworks, roadworks, kerbing, footpaths, sewers, drainage, pipelines, concrete structures and utility installations
• Proficient in Excel and experienced with estimating software, for example Conquest, Causeway or Candy
• Familiar with contract terms and conditions, including NEC 4 and JCT ICE, and comfortable with measurement methods and rate inclusions
• Strong analytical skills, attention to detail and commercial awareness, with clear written and verbal communication
