Job Overview

As a Senior Environmental Engineer, you'll be at the forefront of projects that protect our environment while supporting the operational capability of the UK's nuclear submarine fleet. This is a unique opportunity to influence design changes, assess environmental impacts and deliver solutions that make a real difference to national security and sustainability. Day-to-day, you'll act as a dedicated focal point for environmental expertise on behalf of Babcock, Submarine Support Engineering by:

Responsibilities
  • Providing environmental expertise across complex engineering projects.
  • Leading environmental impact assessments for submarine design changes.
  • Producing and assuring high-level environmental documentation for safety cases.
  • Advising on sustainability and compliance with environmental legislation.
  • Collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to mitigate environmental risks.

This role is full time, 35 hours per week and provides hybrid working arrangements with regular travel between Devonport Royal Dockyard and Babcock Technology Centre.

Essential Experience
  • Strong knowledge of environmental legislation and sustainability principles.
  • Proven experience in environmental assurance and impact assessments.
  • Track record of delivering projects to time, cost and quality.
  • Skilled in producing technical reports and environmental evidence.
Qualifications
  • Degree (or equivalent) in a relevant discipline, or significant experience in environmental management.
Security Clearance

The successful candidate must be a sole UK national who is able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
