As our Senior Employee Relations Manager (SEA), you will help to shape and drive the development of our employee relations (ER) capability across our operations in South-East Asia (predominately focusing on Malaysia, Singapore and the Philippines). Reporting to Global Employee Relations Director, you will provide expertise, oversight, and coordination for ER matters. Continual improvement of ER practices and processes to resolve long-term problems and promote positive working relationships will be a focus, and you will be expected to support on a range of ER matters including absence and performance management, supporting with disciplinary and grievance issues and supporting with change management initiatives.

The role will involve:

  • Defining and implementing the strategy, framework, and plan for scaling up the ER capability across the People function and the wider organisation in SEA.
  • Working closely with the Employment Law Team and HR community, as well as the Senior Employee Relations Manager (UK & Europe), you will shape consistent policies, procedures, and criteria in ER, aligned with legal frameworks and the global HR people strategy.
  • Recording, tracking, and documenting all ER cases and related information will be a key responsibility and you will jointly own the global case management system (Navex) with the Senior Employee Relations Manager (UK & Europe).
  • Proactively analyzing ER data to identify trends and key risk topics, creating insights that shape relevant programmes and interventions, such as training and policy updates.
  • Leading a policy review across the jurisdictions for which you are responsible and ensuring all policies remain up to date and fit for purpose.
  • Supporting with our interactions with Trade Unions, labour ministries and regulators and other relevant third parties in the jurisdictions for which you are responsible.
  • Establishing governance, oversight, and guidance to manage ER risks, support knowledge sharing and consistency among HR colleagues, and ensure full compliance with applicable legal requirements.
  • Collaborating with HR and Employment Law colleagues, you will advise on and support organizational change programmes, act as a subject matter expert for employee relations cases, and assist with employment litigation management.
  • Building relationships across the HR team in SEA (and beyond), you will establish a network of ER champions, providing leadership and development to all those involved in ER activity.
  • Contributing to the overall people agenda, stay updated on ER law and best practices, and disseminate relevant information to the business.

We are looking for an enthusiastic, strategic thinker, who is passionate about driving organizational change and creating fair, compliant and people-focused cultures. You should have at least five to eight years’ HR experience, with a minimum of three years' experience in managing ER matters. Building collaborative relationships with stakeholders across the organization in SEA will be an important element of the role.
