Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in drainage design for development infrastructure.
  • Strong understanding of SuDS, Flood Risk, Building Regulations, and national planning policy.
  • Ideally Chartered or working towards Chartered status.

We have a requirement for a Senior Engineer with a biased towards drainage to join our clients Bristol office.

This is an exciting opportunity to join an employee-owned consultancy with a strong reputation for delivering high-quality engineering design across a diverse range of projects. The would be as a Senior Drainage Engineer to lead and contribute to the successful delivery of a wide variety of infrastructure and development projects.

As a Drainage Engineer you can expect to work on the following:

  • Sustainable Drainage Systems (SuDS)
  • Flood risk assessments
  • Private and adoptable drainage systems
  • Sewer diversions and build-over agreements with water authorities.

You’ll play a key role in the design, management, and delivery of drainage strategies and designs, working closely with clients, statutory authorities, and fellow professionals.

The role
  • Liaise with clients, local authorities, water companies, and other stakeholders to secure technical approvals (S104, S106, S185, SAB, LLFA, etc).
  • Supervise and mentor junior engineers and technicians.
  • Prepare fee proposals and invoices, monitor budgets and deadlines.
  • Attend design team and site meetings and provide technical support during construction phases.
  • Contribute to internal knowledge sharing and technical development.
  • Develop drainage strategies and detailed designs for both private and adoptable systems (foul and surface water).
  • Prepare Flood Risk Assessments and Drainage Strategy reports in line with national and local planning policy.
  • Produce hydraulic modelling and drainage design using industry-standard software such as Causeway Flow.
  • Produce technical drawings and specifications.
What you need to succeed
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in drainage design for development infrastructure.
  • Relevant Civil Engineering background (BEng, MEng, HNC, HND) or equivalent.
  • Ideally Chartered or working towards Chartered status.
  • Strong understanding of SuDS, Flood Risk, Building Regulations, DCG and national planning policy.
  • Proficient in relevant software including AutoCAD, Causeway Flow or MicroDrainage, Microsoft Office and Bluebeam.
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to manage clients and stakeholders.
  • Strong report writing, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.
