The role

We are recruiting a Senior Design Manager for our construction business. The role involves liaising effectively between the external design team, construction and commercial teams, statutory authorities, and the client, focusing on public sector work on the Defence Optimisation Programme (DEOP).

What will you do:

  • Ensure timely delivery of design information to meet project schedule and budget.
  • Guarantee all design information is buildable, safe, and of appropriate quality.
  • Align design outputs with the Contractor’s proposals, Employer’s Requirements, or brief, and manage deviations.
  • Enhance project value through practical Value Engineering, exploring design alternatives while maintaining quality.
  • Lead and motivate the external consultants managing the supply chain of the finished product.
  • Define the scope of services for each Design Team consultant via a Design Responsibility Matrix.
  • Review BIM capabilities and assist in preparing the Project BIM Execution Plan.

You will bring:

  • Registered professional (e.g., Architect, Chartered Engineer).
  • Significant post-qualification construction industry experience.
  • Leadership skills for managing external design teams.
  • Ability to integrate as a trusted team member on-site.
