Senior Design Engineering Consultant - Power Engineering & Renewables
Location: South Wales Office (with national travel)
Division: Power Engineering & Renewables
What You'll Do
- Design & Simulation: Lead the design of earthing systems and carry out lightning protection risk assessments in accordance with BSEN 62305.
- Site Visits: Conduct onsite testing and inspection of protection systems at substations, power stations, and renewable energy facilities.
- Client Engagement: Manage key client relationships, address technical queries, and clearly communicate engineering outcomes.
- Reporting: Produce detailed technical reports and review outputs prepared by junior engineers.
- Team Support: Mentor and support junior engineers and graduates to promote professional development and team collaboration.
Qualifications
- Essential: Bachelor\'s degree in Electrical Engineering
- Desirable: Master\'s degree in Electrical Engineering
Experience
- Minimum 5 years of experience in earthing and lightning protection system design, assessment, and field testing.
Skills & Attributes
- Proficient in CDEGS, AutoCAD, and Microsoft Office.
- Strong knowledge of UK standards for electrical infrastructure.
- Comfortable with regular travel and overnight stays (2-4 nights/week).
- Demonstrated ability to support and mentor junior staff.
- Collaborative, inquisitive, detail-oriented, and technically precise.
