Job summary

A legal recruitment agency is seeking a Senior Contracts Lawyer to join a local authority's legal team in North London. The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 5 years PQE in Contracts and Public Procurement Law, with proven experience in drafting contracts and providing strategic legal advice. This position offers flexible working arrangements with remote work options, requiring only one day per month in the office. The role is initially for 3 months with the potential for extension.

Overview

Service Care Legal are working alongside a local authority who are looking for a Senior Contracts Lawyer to join their legal team. In this pivotal position, you will provide expert legal advice on a broad and complex caseload, including JCT and NEC construction contracts, contractual disputes, subsidy control, and public procurement.

Role

Role: Senior Contracts Lawyer

Location: North London / remote

Rate: £60.00ph umbrella / £52.81ph PAYE inc. holiday pay / £47.12 PAYE exc. holiday pay

Contract: 3 months with possibility of extension, 36 hours per week

Please note that office attendance is only one day per month.

Responsibilities
  • Manage a diverse and full caseload, delivering practical legal solutions on complex matters
  • Draft and review legal documents and contracts to ensure compliance with procurement regulations and statutory procedures relevant to local government
  • Provide strategic legal advice to support decision-making processes within the organization
  • Play an influential role within project teams, supporting collaborative delivery of key initiatives
  • Support the Principal Lawyer and deputise in their absence
Ideal Candidate
  • A qualified Solicitor with a minimum of 5 years' PQE in Contracts and Public Procurement Law
  • Proven experience as a contracts lawyer with a strong background in public sector legal matters
  • Deep understanding of how local authorities operate, with the ability to transfer knowledge from private sector experience to the public sector environment
  • Extensive experience in drafting contracts, procurement processes, and statutory legal frameworks related to local government
