Job description
Overview

This post is a 12 month Trust Registrar post with the appointee being placed in the Trauma and Orthopaedic Department based primarily on the Broomfield Hospital Site with additional theatres /clinics at Braintree Hospital.

This post is designed to provide the successful applicant with a thorough and comprehensive approach to the medical and surgical management of patients with acute and elective Orthopaedic concerns.

Educational approach

The educational methods include assessment of patients in clinics, pre-operative planning sessions, rounds and direct surgical experience. Depending upon the competency, there would be fair opportunities for taking a lead role in various operating, teaching and clinic related activities.

Main duties

The duties outlined below are not definitive and may be changed in accordance with the needs of the service. The post holder will be expected to undertake the following:

  • To help provide Trauma and Orthopaedic service of highest standard: this is a Consultant led service.
  • To work flexibly with other colleagues to achieve hospital\'s agreed planned activities for in-patient and out-patient services.
  • To participate in the full shift middle grade on-call rota system as organized by the on-call team.
  • To participate in the trauma meetings as part of the on-call trauma service.
  • To ensure that the standards of patient care are maintained and developed through clinical audits and evidence-based research.
  • Maintain personal and professional development in accordance with the requirements of the Royal Colleges. To participate and take active role in the training and teaching of other members of the surgical team.
  • To contribute to the achievement of quality, patient care activity and business targets of the hospital.
  • As part of the Directorate Team, assist in the cost effective utilisation of resources. While this is a non-training post, we realise that the appointee will have educational and training needs and every effort will be made to accommodate for such needs.

Salary

£44,170 a year Per Annum (Pro Rata for Part Time) plus 1B 40% Banding
