Overview

Position: Senior Civil Engineer (Civil 3D / BIM)

Location: Hybrid – 1 day per week in London office, remainder remote

Employment Type: Contract (Outside IR35)

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Civil Engineer with strong Civil 3D expertise to join our client’s team on major infrastructure projects. This role is ideal for a candidate with proven experience in civil engineering design, BIM coordination, and clash detection who can contribute technical excellence and delivery on complex multidisciplinary projects.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and delivery of civil engineering packages using Civil 3D.


• Develop and manage BIM models, including setup and level management.


• Undertake services modelling and clash detection, ensuring technical accuracy and resolving conflicts.


• Support the preparation of drawings, calculations, and technical reports.


• Collaborate closely with structural, MEP, and other engineering disciplines to deliver coordinated solutions.


• Mentor junior engineers and provide technical oversight.


• Ensure compliance with UK design standards, planning requirements, and project specifications.

Essential Skills & Experience

• Advanced Civil 3D expertise - this is a must-have requirement.


• Proven track record in BIM modelling, including setup and management of levels.


• Hands-on experience with services modelling and clash detection tools (e.g., Navisworks).


• Minimum 7 years' experience in civil engineering design and delivery.


• Senior level background, ideally Chartered (CEng/IEng) or near-chartered.


• Strong drainage design/modelling knowledge (MicroDrainage/InfoDrainage) - desirable.


• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.

Requirements

• Must be based in the UK with a right to work in the UK. (No flexibility on this)


• Must be within commuting distance of London (1 day per week in office).
