Senior Civil Engineer

Location: Leicester

A fantastic opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior Civil Engineer to join a respected consultancy in Leicester. This role is ideal for someone with strong technical expertise in highways and drainage design who is ready to take ownership of complex projects and play a key role in developing a talented engineering team. You will work closely with a Director, gaining valuable exposure while progressing toward chartership if not already achieved.

As a Senior Civil Engineer, you will lead the delivery of civil infrastructure design for residential, commercial and mixed use developments. You will take responsibility for highways, junctions, drainage, earthworks and sustainable solutions, ensuring all work meets relevant adoption standards. This role offers excellent variety, client interaction and the opportunity to mentor junior engineers as part of a supportive and growing office.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead detailed design of highways, junctions, earthworks and drainage systems.

• Deliver technical submissions for S38, S278 and S104 approvals.

• Oversee design quality while guiding and mentoring junior and intermediate engineers.

• Liaise with clients, local authorities, contractors and statutory bodies.

• Prepare Flood Risk Assessments, technical reports and feasibility input.

• Support early stage viability work and contribute to fee proposals.

About You

• Civil Engineering degree with eight or more years’ UK design experience.

• Skilled in AutoCAD, Civils 3D and hydraulic modelling tools such as Flow or MicroDrainage.

• Strong understanding of DMRB, Manual for Streets and adoption processes.

• Excellent communicator with proven leadership and mentoring capability.

• Chartered or actively working toward professional accreditation.
