Principal Civil Engineer

As a Principal Civil Engineer, you'll play a key role in leading multidisciplinary design teams, providing technical direction, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality, buildable, and sustainable civil engineering solutions. Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and oversee the civil design and delivery of water and wastewater treatment projects.
  • Produce and review technical reports, specifications, and construction drawings.
  • Undertake design calculations and analysis using industry-standard software.
  • Coordinate civil design with mechanical, electrical and process engineering disciplines.
  • Conduct site visits, inspections, and provide technical support during construction.
  • Mentor junior engineers and ensure quality assurance across all outputs.
  • Support business development activities, including bid preparation and client engagement.
  • Maintain compliance with UK design standards, legislation and best practice guidance.
8 Years' Experience
  • BEng/MEng in Civil Engineering (or equivalent).
  • Chartered Engineer (CEng) or working towards professional status (ICE/IStructE/CIWEM).
  • Minimum 8 years' experience delivering civil engineering designs in the UK water sector.
  • Strong leadership, mentoring and stakeholder management skills.
  • High-level competence in design tools such as Tekla, TEDDS, STAAD or AutoCAD.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel when required.
