Senior Casualty Underwriter – Healthcare Practice at Everest Advisors (Uk), Ltd.

Responsibilities
- Support the expansion of the International Healthcare Practice in line with Syndicate and Company platform plans and underwriting strategy, whilst maintaining a focus on bottom line underwriting profit and delivery of both Syndicate and Everest internal plans with a specific focus on General Liability, Employers Liability and Medical Malpractice.
- Actively participate in the building and execution of the International Industry Practice plan.
- Build out a Retail Proposition.
- Develop broker and customer relationships and develop new relationships, where this is consistent with the objectives set in the Business Plan.
- Invest in and demonstrate expansion of underwriting and product knowledge through dedicated training (internal and external) and working with other underwriters on specific accounts.
- Manage a portfolio of renewal business, including underwriting and pricing, referral, processing, broker and client relationships; service any new business requests in the same way.
- Represent Everest at meetings both at the Lloyd’s box, in the office and during visits to brokers, Coverholders and other customers as required.
- Refer as appropriate risks exceeding prescribed underwriting authority.
- Monitor all relevant portfolio KPIs for own portfolio of accounts and support the Deputy Head of Healthcare across the broader portfolio.
- Coordinate with the Claims Manager and the wider claims team on claims related issues.
- Work with the actuarial team to price individual risks and influence rating models and processes.
- Participate in the underwriting peer review process at weekly and monthly meetings, as required.
- Ensure processing and MI are up-to-date for any individual accounts.
- Monitor and stay abreast of changes in underwriting, regulation and compliance.
- Assist in the improvement of rating models, underwriting manuals, service standards, marketing materials and website as required.
- Underwrite in compliance with Lloyd’s and Everest prescribed underwriting standards.
- Travel as required to support objectives, and manage T&E expenses appropriately.
Experience, Skills & Competencies
- Proven experience within an underwriting role with strong knowledge of writing General and Employer’s Liability for Healthcare accounts.
- Willingness to learn how to underwrite Medical Malpractice.
- Knowledge of wholesale and retail business.
- Strategic skills – ability to determine opportunities and threats through analysis of current and future trends that may impact the business.
- Judgment / decision making – ability to use logic, rationality and objectivity in decision making.
- Risk taking – ability to develop a sound underwriting view to take calculated risks with favourable outcomes.
- Compliance – ability to understand and ensure compliance with internal and external management and regulatory controls, with appropriate support.
- Market and product knowledge – maintain and develop market knowledge including competitor profiles and products.
- Relationship building – ability to establish and maintain sound relationships both internally and externally.
