Job description
Senior Business Analyst/ Architect| FT| Perm| Remote| Salary DOE + Comprehensive benefits

We are one of the UK’s leading independent hospital groups and the largest in terms of revenue. From our 38 hospitals and 33 clinics, medical centres and consulting rooms across England, Wales, and Scotland, we provide diagnostics, inpatient, day case and outpatient care in areas including orthopaedics, gynaecology, cardiology, neurology, oncology, and general surgery. We also operate a network of private GPs and provide occupational health services to over 700 corporate clients. We are the principal independent provider by volume of knee and hip operations in the United Kingdom.

The group was founded with the acquisition and re‑branding of 25 Bupa hospitals in 2007. Since then, Spire Healthcare has made significant capital investments in its estate and continues to deliver successful and award‑winning clinical outcomes and high levels of patient satisfaction.

Spire is listed on the London Stock Exchange and is a member of the FTSE 250. We were the first private hospital provider to publish outcomes data on our website, and we have received awards for our clinical quality and high levels of patient satisfaction.

Spire Healthcare is committed to the highest quality of patient care. Working in partnership with over 8,760 experienced consultants, we delivered tailored, personalised care to approximately 926,500 inpatients, outpatients, and day case patients in 2022. Patients, consultants, and general practitioners trust Spire Healthcare to deliver the high‑quality care they expect from a leading private healthcare provider.

As a Senior Business Architect you will play a pivotal role in driving operational excellence, business transformation, and organisational design across Spire Healthcare. Working collaboratively with cross‑functional teams and senior stakeholders, the role ensures that business challenges are clearly understood, root causes are identified, and data‑driven, strategically aligned solutions are implemented.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Leading end‑to‑end business analysis and architecture activities across multiple project life cycles, defining business needs, objectives and key results, and measures of success including costs, benefits, KPIs as well as processes for managing deviations to standard practice.
  • Partnering with senior stakeholders to translate strategic objectives into clearly defined capabilities, processes, and operating models that enable measurable business value.
  • Conducting and facilitating value stream mapping, task mining, and process taxonomy development to understand how value flows across the organisation and identify opportunities for optimisation and standardisation.
  • Supporting organisational design initiatives by defining business capabilities, assessing structural alignment, and supporting change adoption plans.
  • Analysing and redesigning business processes to eliminate waste, improve quality, and integrate new systems and practices seamlessly with existing ones—aligning to Lean principles whilst fostering a continuous improvement culture in the business.
  • Gathering, validating, documenting, and managing business and architectural requirements throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring traceability, accuracy, and change control.
  • Evaluating proposed business solutions and design options against goals, identifying risks, dependencies, and impacts.
  • Developing and maintaining high‑quality deliverables across outputs, ensuring alignment with BABOK/BIZBOK standards, business architecture frameworks, and Spire’s operating model.
  • Championing consistency and excellence across business analysis and business architecture disciplines, sharing best practice and driving continuous improvement in tools, techniques, and frameworks.
  • Managing the business analysis and architecture work plan, ensuring priorities, resources, and timelines are aligned with programme objectives and that deliverables are achieved to a high standard on time.
  • Maintaining traceability from strategic goals to benefits realisation, ensuring business value is delivered and sustained through transformation initiatives.
  • Ensuring all projects and engagements reflect Spire Healthcare’s values, strategies, and behavioural expectations.
Key Requirements:
  • Proven experience operating across both business analysis and business architecture disciplines within complex, multi‑stakeholder environments.
  • Demonstrable capability in value stream mapping, process taxonomy development, task mining, and organisational design to support business transformation, optimisation and standardisation.
  • Strong understanding of business process management and business architecture principles, with the ability to link strategic intent to operational execution.
  • Solid understanding of multiple project delivery lifecycles (Agile, Waterfall, Hybrid) and the ability to adapt approaches based on context.
  • Exceptional stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to influence and engage at all levels of the organisation.
  • Analytical mindset, capable of identifying root causes, synthesising complex information, and presenting actionable insights.
  • Highly organised, proactive, and delivery‑focused, with the ability to balance strategic and tactical priorities effectively.
  • Collaborative team player who fosters continuous improvement, knowledge sharing, and innovation within the business analysis and architecture community.
  • Committed to upholding Spire Healthcare’s values and contributing positively to its ongoing transformation journey.
  • Proficient in business analysis and architecture tools (e.g. Visio, BPMN, Lean Six Sigma, task mining platforms), with relevant professional certifications (e.g. Lean Six Sigma or equivalent).

We offer employed colleagues a competitive salary as well as a comprehensive benefits package which includes but is not limited to:

  • 35 days annual leave inclusive of bank holidays
  • Employer and employee contributory pension with flexible retirement options
  • ‘Spire for you’ reward platform - discount and cashback for over 1000 retailers
