SEN Teaching Assistant

Prospero Teaching is looking for a passionate and proactive Teaching Assistant to support pupils in one of our inspirational primary schools in Amble. The role will start in January and is available on a full‑time or part‑time basis. This is an exciting opportunity to build positive relationships with pupils and have a long‑term, positive impact on their progress and development inside and outside the classroom.

Responsibilities
  • Support pupils with varied SEN and challenging behaviour on a 1:1 basis and in small groups.
  • Work with pupils ranging from 5‑11 years old, depending on preference, experience and skill set.
  • Assist pupils who are non‑verbal and those requiring personal care, with willingness to support in these contexts.
  • Develop an understanding of the different needs and learning styles of pupils within the classroom, working closely with class teachers and colleagues.
Experience / Qualifications & Requirements
  • A supporting teaching and learning or childcare‑based qualification (desired).
  • Experience of working with children in schools in the UK.
  • Ability to build positive relationships and rapport with pupils and staff.
  • A resilient, proactive, and positive nature.
  • Right to work in the UK.
  • Enhanced child‑barred list DBS certificate, registered with the online update service (or willingness to process a new application).
  • Provide two professional child‑related references covering the last two years.
