An educational support organisation in Scunthorpe is seeking individuals passionate about assisting young people with special educational needs (SEN). This term-time role involves 27.5 hours per week, providing one-to-one support to learners with diverse needs. Candidates should possess patience, good communication skills, and a willingness to learn. Experience in practical trades or education support is preferred. A full clean driving licence is essential. Are you an individual who is passionate about supporting young people with SEN but who have no formal teaching qualification/experience? If so, this could be an ideal role for you where you will receive guidance, mentoring, and training whilst gaining hands‑on experience working one‑to‑one with learners to help them thrive.
This is a term‑time role (46 weeks per year) and 27.5 hours per week working with young people (16+) who have an Education Health & Care Plan (EHCP). The learners we work with can have complex needs including SEMH, ASD, ADHD and potentially having additional learning difficulties and/or disabilities. The need to deliver innovative and differentiated lessons that incorporate real‑world applications of practical skills to cater for various learning styles and abilities is essential.
As part of our commitment to safeguarding there will be numerous safeguarding checks that form part of the recruitment process, including an Enhanced DBS check, and you will be required to complete a self‑declaration form at interview stage. Please note this role is also exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act, and it is an offence to apply for the role if you are barred from regulated activity.
