A local children's service organization in Sunderland is seeking a SEND Casework Officer to coordinate needs assessments and support young people with special educational needs. This role involves liaising with various stakeholders to ensure effective Education Health Care Plans while maintaining a focus on empathy and collaborative relationships. The ideal applicant will possess strong organisational skills and an understanding of the Post 16 educational landscape, contributing to making a significant difference in the lives of children and families.
The SEND Casework Officer role will be to co-ordinate the efficient Needs Assessments process / Annual Review process and associated casework for students with special educational needs and disabilities. This particular role will focus on young people in, or about to start their Post 16 Educational journey. They will provide oversight and undertake casework for young people who require an Education, Health and Care Plan. To liaise with multi-disciplinary agencies, parents and carers to ensure Education Health Care Plans are co-produced to accurately meet the needs of children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities. The role requires the ability to work empathetically in co-production with young people, parents and carers and to work with a high level of accuracy when synthesising information from reports in addition to developing effective collaborative relationships with school and college leaders. The ideal candidate will have knowledge and experience of the Post 16 educational landscape. The role also requires an ability to organise priorities line with statutory timescales for assessments and annual reviews.
