Are you a compassionate and skilled Special Needs Assistant looking for a new opportunity in Chorley? Do you have a proven ability to support children with diverse needs, including physical, emotional, and learning difficulties? We are actively seeking experienced Special Needs Assistants to provide support for special educational needs in primary schools throughout Chorley. We offer a competitive hourly rate ranging from £13.68 to £16.68, depending on your qualifications and experience. These rewarding roles involve working with a variety of SEN needs, such as Autism Spectrum Conditions, ADHD, challenging behaviours, cognitive delay, global delay, and hearing impairments. Your expertise, qualifications, and skill set will be carefully matched to a school and student who will benefit most from your support.

To be considered, you must have prior SEN experience or a strong understanding of special needs and effective support strategies. Please note that a school-based interview or observation may be part of the application process to ensure your suitability for the role. We encourage qualified candidates who meet the criteria below to apply.

Key Responsibilities
  • Creating and preparing tailored resources and activities for 1:1 support.

  • Collaborating with class teachers and the SENCO to plan and execute appropriate learning activities.

  • Liaising with various professionals, including teachers, teaching assistants, and specialist support staff.

  • Working effectively with other support staff and LSAs.

  • Providing support to classes, small groups, and individual children.

  • Monitoring and tracking a pupil's progress to support their personal development and confidence.

Essential Requirements
  • Experience of working with young people.

  • Comfort and confidence in managing challenging behaviours.

  • The ability to engage and build a positive rapport with young people.

  • A creative, proactive, and flexible approach to supporting children.

  • Experience with SEN or a strong knowledge of learning difficulties.

  • TA qualified.
