Key Responsibilities

As an SEN/SEMH Teacher, your role is crucial to the success and well-being of the pupils. You will be responsible for:

  • Creating and delivering personalised, engaging lessons that cater to a wide range of learning needs and styles.

  • Utilising a variety of effective behaviour management and de-escalation techniques to foster a positive and safe learning environment.

  • Meticulously tracking pupil progress against their personal education plans and reporting on achievements.

  • Working closely with teaching assistants, therapists, and external professionals to provide holistic support for pupils.

  • Acting as a key figure in a pupil's life, providing consistent emotional and pastoral support to help them feel secure and confident.

Requirements

To succeed in this position, you must possess:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.

  • A proven background in teaching pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN) and Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) needs.

  • An Enhanced Child DBS on the update service (or be willing to apply for a new one).

  • The legal right to work in the UK without any restrictions.

  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to build strong, trusting relationships.

  • Resilience, patience, and a genuine passion for supporting vulnerable pupils.

  • Specific training in areas such as Team Teach, Makaton, or PECS is highly desirable.
