Secondary SEN Teacher - English, Maths or Science

Location: Islington
Type: Long‑term (covering long‑term sickness)
Working Hours: Full‑time
Salary: Paid to scale

Are you a qualified secondary teacher with a passion for supporting young people with additional needs? We are working closely with a welcoming and inclusive secondary school in Islington who are seeking a dedicated SEN Teacher to join their team on a full‑time, long‑term basis.

This role is to cover long‑term sickness and would suit a teacher confident in delivering English, Maths and/or Science to students with special educational needs, while creating a calm, structured and supportive learning environment.

The school is proud of its inclusive ethos and strong pastoral support, ensuring every student feels valued, supported and able to achieve their potential academically, socially and emotionally.

The Role
  • Plan and deliver engaging, differentiated lessons in English, Maths or Science, tailored to individual learning needs
  • Support students with a range of SEN, including ASD, ADHD, SEMH and additional learning needs
  • Adapt the secondary curriculum to ensure accessibility and progress for all learners
  • Create a positive, structured classroom environment where students feel safe and motivated
  • Monitor and assess progress, adjusting teaching strategies as needed
  • Work closely with TAs, SENCOs, pastoral teams and external professionals
  • Contribute to EHCP targets, reviews and support plans
  • Promote inclusion, independence and positive behaviour

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) – essential
  • Experience teaching English, Maths and/or Science at secondary level
  • Experience working with students with SEN (school-based or specialist setting desirable)
