Job description
SEHSCT Paediatric Continence Nurse Advisor

The paediatric continence nurse advisor (PCNA) will be responsible for the delivery and management of a nurse led paediatric continence nursing service. The PCNA will provide evidence based advice, education and treatment programmes to children and young people (0-19 years) in the South Eastern Health and Social Care Trust (SET). The PCNA will lead the development of a fully integrated paediatric continence service and contribute to the development of the skills of the paediatric nursing workforce. The PCNA will demonstrate clinical leadership and act as a professional resource, working in partnership with all relevant stakeholders, including users, to enhance professional standards of care across the paediatric continence nursing service. The post holder will work with managers to develop frontline continence service delivery and referral pathways to PCN.

Responsibilities
  • Triage referrals to ensure they are directed to the most appropriate service for support and management.
  • Manage a caseload of children / young people with complex continence conditions.
  • Be responsible for the specialist assessment, development, implementation and evaluation of programmes of care specific to children / young people and their families.
Skills and Qualifications
  • Three years post nursing qualification part 1 of NMC register.
  • Hold a current full driving licence which is valid for use in the UK and have access to a car on appointment.
  • This criterion will be waived in the case of applicants whose disability prohibits driving but who have access to a form of transport approved.
