Security Compliance Coordinator

The Security Compliance Coordinator is responsible for monitoring security compliance and performance across the hospital, working with security liaison staff and security managers to support services to achieve required security standards.

The post holder is responsible for operational delivery of security training, including day-to-day management of a dedicated security trainer. Contribution towards internal/external national security audits is a key element of the role.

Main duties of the job

Monitor hospital compliance with security requirements as detailed within the Safety & Security Directions for High Security Psychiatric Services 2019, the High Security Services Clinical Security Framework and Trust Policies and Procedures.

Job responsibilities

This post will support the department plan and devise a compliance and training strategy to maintain patient, staff and public safety. The post will support clinical security liaison nurses to deliver clinical security input direct to teams and services. The post will also support the relevant security managers with compliance monitoring and recording of non-clinical activity, such as physical security requirements and security systems.

Please note applicants will be required to pay for their DBS check. Costs are deducted from salary following appointment. The cost of the DBS application is £26.40 (standard) or £54.40 (enhanced), this cost will be deducted from your salary over the first 2 months of employment.

You are encouraged to enrol for the DBS Update Service. An annual fee of £16 per year applies.

Person Specification
  • The post holder will be required to engage in all aspects of mandatory training to include Violence Reduction training. Ability to cover large areas of site conducting compliance assurance activity. Demonstrate continued personal / professional development to maintain knowledge base
  • Education to Degree level or equivalent experience. Specialist knowledge in security underpinned by theoretical knowledge.
  • Experience of working within a secure setting. Relevant experience of the application of security practice within a forensic NHS setting including working closely with clinical/therapy work areas. Demonstrate a leadership and role model style that is consistent with organisational culture and expectations. Experience in planning and organising activities requiring formulation and adjustments. Experience of effective people management. Experience of working and implementing changes in accordance with new regulations, protocols, policies and procedures. Experience of delivering training to groups and individuals.
  • Specialist knowledge of clinical / non-clinical security within a secure setting. The post holder will be required to have excellent analytical skills to compile comprehensive and sensitive reports. Competent in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint applications.
  • Hours: 37.5 hrs per week, in an office, training and patient facing environment. A full, current UK driving licence and access to a vehicle fit and insured for business use are required for this post. Reasonable adjustments will be made for disabled staff in line with the Equality Act 2010.
  • Experience of working in high secure hospital or prison setting. Teaching qualification. Experience of working within a high secure hospital. Knowledge of the Health Service, the Mental Health Act and related legislation. Detailed working knowledge of the High security psychiatric services (Arrangements for safety and security) directions 2019. Working knowledge of the Clinical Security Framework. Detailed knowledge of day-to-day operational systems, policies, procedures, and infrastructure. Awareness of emergency planning/incident command systems.
