Hockey Coach – Saturdays (Term Time)

Location: Kent Hours: Saturday’s (typically mornings to early afternoon) Pay: Competitive hourly rate, based on experience and qualifications

About the Role

As part of the school’s sports team, you will:

  • Coach and support teams during Saturday fixtures.
  • Lead structured warm‑ups and pre‑match preparations.
  • Umpire hockey matches in line with official rules and regulations.
  • Provide constructive feedback and encouragement to players to aid skill development.
  • Work collaboratively with the Head of Hockey and other staff members.
  • Ensure pupil behaviour and sportsmanship reflect the school’s values.
  • Respond appropriately to injuries and incidents during matches.
  • Represent the school positively when interacting with other schools and officials.
About You

We are looking for someone who has:

  • Strong knowledge of hockey rules, tactics, and coaching principles.
  • Confidence in umpiring school‑level fixtures.
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.
  • Ability to motivate and manage young individuals positively.
  • A calm, professional approach to managing behaviour and competition.
  • A valid licence and ability to drive a minibus.
Desirable:
  • Hockey coaching or umpiring qualifications.
  • Previous experience coaching or officiating at school or club level.
  • Safeguarding training and First Aid qualification (or willingness to complete one).
