Job summary

A leading education recruitment agency is looking for an experienced Secondary English & Maths Tutor in Peterlee. You will provide personalized tuition to secondary-aged students who have faced challenges in education, including those with special educational needs. The ideal candidate should have experience working with young people with SEND and a passion for helping students rebuild their confidence in learning. Competitive pay of GBP25-GBP30 per hour based on experience. Contract is ongoing with hours depending on student needs.

Job Title: Secondary English & Maths Tutor
Location: Peterlee - SR8
Pay Rate: GBP25-GBP30 per hour
Contract: ongoing
Hours: Dependent on young persons needs

Prospero Teaching is seeking an experienced and supportive Secondary English & Maths Tutor to provide 1:1 and small-group tuition to secondary-aged students across Peterlee. These students have been disengaged from education for some time, due to SEND, SEMH, behavioural challenges, etc., so patience is a key attribute.

Your role with us

• Deliver one-to-one or small-group tuition in Maths and English


• Develop and implement personalised lesson plans that address individual learning gaps


• Monitor student progress


• Create a supportive and motivating learning environment to help students re-build their confidence in learning


• Complete daily attendance and weekly reports


• Access to our Resource Hub, which includes learning materials


• Access to CPD accredited courses and training

To be eligible for the Maths and English Tutor role

• Previous experience working with young people with SEND such as young people with ADHD, SEMH and students who have been permanently excluded – this role is great for those with previous experience within a PRU


• Hold the right to work in the UK


• Hold an enhanced child blocked list DBS certificate registered with the online update service or be willing to process a new application


• Be able to reference the last two years of education/employment
