Overview

Reddish Vale High School are seeking to appoint a well-qualified, enthusiastic, committed and ambitious Teacher of Science, looking for the next step in their career, to join a very strong department within our school. The successful candidate will display a real passion for the teaching of their subject, with experience of teaching across KS3 and 4.

Reporting to the Head of Department for Science, the Second in Department plays a key role in supporting with the leadership, management, and development of the Science team. This includes teaching, curriculum planning, assessment, and ensuring that departmental goals align with the broader objectives of the school. The position requires strong leadership, organisational skills, and a deep understanding of teaching Science at various levels. The successful candidate will be an integral part of the team. This is an exciting opportunity for an outstanding, creative teacher with the drive, passion and commitment to join our hugely talented team of staff, working together to encourage and support every child in reaching their full potential.

Responsibilities
  • Help lead departmental meetings, setting agendas, and ensuring effective communication among staff.
  • Lead or coordinate aspects of assessment and exam preparation, ensuring students are well-prepared for GCSEs or other relevant exams.
  • Deliver engaging and challenging lessons to students of all abilities.
  • Work collaboratively with other teachers and staff to enhance the learning experience.
  • Contribute to the development of the Science curriculum and ensure it is both relevant and inspiring.
Skills and Qualifications
  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent.
  • Proven experience as a teacher of Science at Key Stage 3 and 4.
  • Strong leadership and organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • A passion for teaching and helping students achieve their potential.
