Qualifications

• Current registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Council or Health and Care Professions Council.
• Minimum 1 year of post-graduate nursing experience.
• Recent experience in the UK's healthcare system within the last 3 years.

Responsibilities

• Monitor and maintain a sterile environment during surgical procedures.
• Prepare and check equipment for surgical operations.
• Support and communicate with patients and families effectively.
• Coordinate with the Theatre Manager regarding stock levels.

Job description

Client Name: Southend University Hospital

Role: Scrub Practitioner

Rates: £16.48 - £21.24 per hour

Shifts: Available Monday to Friday 08:00-18:00

Key Responsibilities:

• Monitor and maintain a safe and sterile environment for the patient throughout the surgical procedure.
• To safely identify, prepare, check and assemble equipment required for the relevant operating list
• Prepare and organise the clinical area to receive patients for elective, emergency, and trauma procedures.
• Coordinate and maintain adequate stock levels of drugs, stores and implants liaising with the Theatre Manager and / Procurement.
• Actively support patients and their families, communicating clinical information using various methods to ensure effective understanding.
• Demonstrate and develop clinical assessment skills and prioritise the care for patients undergoing a surgical / anaesthetic procedure.
• Contribute to the continuing development of patient care within the operating theatres, e.g. through sharing knowledge and expertise as required.

Essential Qualifications:

• Current NMC/HCPC registration
• At least 1 years' post-graduate experience.
• 6 months recent UK experience within the last 3 years
