Overview

Abbott Diabetes Care designs, develops and manufactures leading-edge glucose monitoring systems for use in both home and hospital settings. We have launched a monitoring system that revolutionises how people with diabetes around the world monitor their glucose levels. We are passionate about doing work that improves the quality of people's lives.

To support our continued site expansion, we currently have an opportunity within the R&D team for a Scientist to join us. This team provides product R&D support for test equipment qualification, test method development, and material characterisation. This position is at the heart of the UK R&D team and your input will be instrumental in the introduction, characterisation and qualification of test equipment, test methods, and materials associated with sensor development projects. This role will also require you to provide support for on-market products, such as supplier changes, as required.

Responsibilities
  • Provide product R&D support for test equipment qualification, test method development, and material characterisation/qualification/validation.
  • Assist in the introduction, characterisation and qualification of test equipment, test methods, and materials for sensor development projects.
  • Support on-market products, including supplier changes, as required.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams in R&D, quality, operations and engineering.
  • Report experiments, analyse data, evaluate results and make conclusions or recommendations, and produce analytical test procedures and technical reports.
Qualifications
  • Degree qualification in a scientific discipline is ideal.
  • Experience in test equipment, test method development and materials characterisation/qualification/validation is preferred.
  • Proactive with the ability to take initiative and work effectively in a team.
  • Strong communication, analytical, and time-management skills; comfortable working in a fast-paced, changing environment.
  • Willingness to collaborate with R&D, quality, operations and engineering functions.
