Job summary

A leading IT services provider in the UK is seeking a Schools ICT Engineer to join their Managed Services team in St Helens. This hands-on role provides high-quality ICT support to staff, students, and school visitors. Responsibilities include managing incidents, deploying devices, and maintaining school technology. Skills

Knowledge of Microsoft products and operating systems (Windows 10/11; Windows Server environments)
Understanding of mixed Apple and Microsoft environments
Hardware and software support experience
Networking fundamentals
Familiarity with SharePoint-driven information-sharing solutions
Understanding of MFD printers in a networked environment
Ability to build and test devices across different operating systems
Some knowledge of Apple devices

Education

Minimum 5 GCSEs at Grade C or above, including English and Mathematics

THE ROLE

We are seeking a Schools ICT Engineer to join our onsite Managed Services team supporting a large Secondary School in the St Helens area. This is a hands‑on role providing high‑availability ICT services to a diverse range of users including staff, students, and school visitors. You will play a key part in ensuring the smooth operation of day‑to‑day school ICT services, responding to incidents, deploying devices, maintaining equipment, and supporting key school events. Excellent communication skills, a customer‑focused attitude, and the ability to work effectively within a team are essential. This role is based on the school campus and requires daily onsite attendance. The typical shift pattern is 8:00am – 4:00pm, Monday to Friday, but this may change based on business needs, including early mornings and evenings.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide face‑to‑face and remote support to students, staff, and visitors.
  • Log, manage, and resolve ICT incidents within defined SLAs and KPIs.
  • Deliver exceptional customer service at all times.
  • Build, configure, and deploy end‑user devices for staff and students.
  • Install and update applications on user devices.
  • Support printers, projectors, and other school equipment.
  • Complete administrative tasks including asset management and documentation.
  • Support school events such as open evenings, parents’ evenings, and other scheduled activities.
  • Work collaboratively with other ICT engineers to maintain a reliable, high‑availability environment.

Skills & Knowledge

  • Knowledge of Microsoft products and operating systems (Windows 10/11; Windows Server environments).

  • Full, clean driving licence.
  • Ability to pass an Enhanced DBS check (required).
