Join IKEA Cardiff as a Shopkeeper (Department Sales Manager), where you will lead by example and work collaboratively with your team to co‑create the wonderful everyday with our many co‑workers and customers!

If you're a proactive leader with demonstrated experience of driving sales growth within a commercial retail environment, have a passion for home furnishings, and are looking to grow your career with IKEA, this may be the perfect role for you!

What we offer
  • Starting salary of £31,940 per annum dependent on skills and experiences. Salary can be discussed at interview based on your experience.
  • 39 hours a week, working 5 days over 7, including alternate weekends. This role will require you to work one‑two late shifts (until 21:00 pm) each week.
  • We operate 7 days a week to meet the shopping needs of our guests, so this role will require availability to work during the day, late evenings and full weekends.

What you’ll need to have

You bring experience managing people in a commercial retail environment. A proactive and passionate leader, you will become an integral part of our sales management team, and you can demonstrate experience delivering to sales targets and organisational priorities. We believe it is important that you have a proactive mindset, collaborating with your team and cross‑functionally with the wider store to steer your department and take advantage of sales opportunities.

You lead through the IKEA Values, and can inspire those around you, which includes leading by example and delegating responsibilities where necessary. You work cross‑functionally with other departments and, using your exceptional communication skills, can champion flexibility, speed and simplicity.

You will be someone who believes in and can work in line with the IKEA Concept and Brand Identity.

What you’ll be doing day to day
  • Take responsibility for your department goals and secure that your action plan ensures the country priorities for your department are implemented in your store. You will follow up and take action accordingly by using proven solutions and good examples.
  • You act quickly on commercial opportunities and take full responsibility for ensuring your shop is in excellent shape, clean, tidy, priced and full.
  • You develop a successful team ensuring they all have the correct knowledge of the range and IKEA services, so that they can share this with our customers to provide an excellent shopping experience.
  • With people at the heart of what you do, you will work with succession to identify talent, whilst ensuring you have the right number of competent co‑workers in the right place at the right time.
