Overview
Carbon60 is seeking a Safety and Environment Engineer to join their client based in Portsmouth. The Safety and Environment Engineer will play a crucial role in ensuring compliance with UK MOD Safety and Environmental processes.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain Safety and Environmental Management Plans (SEMP) and Safety and Environmental Cases (SECR) in accordance with industry standards.
- Chair internal and external Project Safety and Environmental Committee meetings, providing expert advice and guidance to project teams.
- Develop products to meet the requirements of EU Directives, including delivery of technical files and Declarations of Conformity.
- Undertake or facilitate required Safety and Environmental analysis.
- Provide advice, guidance and expertise to project and product teams, acting as focal point for all project Safety, Environmental and Product Regulatory compliance matters.
- Support cross-functional teams in ensuring safety and environmental compliance across projects.
Skills and Experience
- Knowledge and experience of UK MOD Safety and Environmental Management processes (ASEMS, DEF STAN 00-056, DEF STAN 00-51, POSMS, POEMS).
- Working knowledge of UK/EU Safety and Environmental Product Regulatory Compliance legislation.
- Knowledge and experience of Military Satellite communication in Maritime domain is advantageous but not essential.
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills; ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Ideal candidate background in Military Satellite communication in the Maritime domain (not strictly required).
Contract Details
- 6-month contract with potential for extension.
- Competitive hourly rate up to £50 per hour (umbrella) or up to £37.38 per hour (PAYE).
- Hybrid work arrangement: up to 3 days remote per week after an initial settling-in period.
