With mentor support (nursing and medical), the ANP will integrate into the existing ANP/Specialist Doctor team in PP MDU Chelsea and Cavendish Square, working as an autonomous practitioner with extended roles.

  • Prescribe SACT and other supportive medications within agreed clinical protocols.
  • Utilise advanced clinical decision making to develop prompt treatment plans or referrals to manage acute and chronic cancer-related complications and toxicities from systemic anti-cancer treatments and/or radiotherapy.
  • Identify and manage clinical deterioration, provide early detection and intervention, stabilise patients where appropriate and transfer as needed.
  • Provide clinical leadership to nursing teams and maintain credibility through practice, delivering high-quality, safe patient services that exceed patient expectations.
  • Manage day care patients undergoing SACT and supportive therapies.
  • Telephone triage of patients reporting side-effects or complications; book routine and emergency investigations.
  • Present and attend PPMDU Consultant rounds, prepare SACT clinics and outpatient lists in conjunction with the team.
  • Provide support and advice to nursing, medical, and Allied Health Professionals in relation to SACT management; provide information to patients and carers about chemotherapy and procedures.
  • Obtain informed consent from patients prior to starting their first chemotherapy cycle and ongoing cycles.
