An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Record to Report Assistant Accountant to join a well-established finance team based in Salford Quays, offering a competitive salary of £32,000pa-£36,000pa. This permanent role is ideal for someone who thrives in a hybrid working environment and is passionate about supporting process automation and continuous improvement within core accounting functions. You will play a key part in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of financial statements, working closely with experienced professionals who value collaboration, knowledge sharing, and personal development.

As a Record to Report Assistant Accountant based in Salford Quays, you will be immersed in a variety of core accounting responsibilities that underpin the accuracy of financial reporting. Your day-to-day will involve preparing detailed journals supported by thorough documentation, performing reconciliations between sub-ledgers and the general ledger, managing fixed asset records, assisting with lease accounting tasks, and supporting both routine and ad hoc audit requirements.

Key duties
  • Prepare and post journals with comprehensive auditable documentation while ensuring compliance with journal policy and data principles.
  • Perform sub-ledger to general ledger close activities to guarantee accurate period-end reporting and support financial statement integrity.
  • Complete agreed recharges, reallocations, IFRS adjustments, and revaluation journals as required by the business cycle.
  • Execute elimination and allocation journal entries to facilitate consolidated group reporting processes.
  • Manage fixed asset accounting tasks including additions, depreciation calculations, write-offs, impairments, and month-end closures.
  • Assist with lease accounting processes and provide support for high-end television (HETV) accounting requirements.
  • Identify root causes of source data issues in Fusion ERP systems, providing feedback to drive right-first-time transactions and system improvements.
  • Support annual audit activities by preparing schedules, responding to queries, and maintaining robust internal controls documentation.
  • Participate in user acceptance testing (UAT) for regular SaaS releases and other system developments impacting finance operations.
  • Collaborate closely with colleagues across the RTR pillar and wider finance operations teams to resolve discrepancies, share knowledge through cross‑training, and maintain up-to-date process documentation.
Qualifications
  • RT‑qualified accountant (or equivalent) with proven experience performing accounting transactions, reconciliations, investigations, and demonstrating strong understanding of end‑to‑end finance processes.
  • Highly organised individual with exceptional attention to detail and numeracy skills essential for accurate financial processing.
  • Proficiency in accounting software—ideally Oracle Fusion ERP—and enthusiasm for leveraging digital tools to enhance efficiency.
  • A digital mindset that embraces process automation initiatives and supports ongoing systems solutions within finance operations.
  • Ability to meet tight deadlines under pressure while maintaining resilience during critical reporting periods or system changes.
  • Self‑motivated approach combined with curiosity for problem‑solving and investigating discrepancies within complex data sets.
