Position

We are looking for a route sales & service apprentice technician who has a passion for the customer and life safety. The candidate should enjoy working with people, be sales oriented, and be able to perform inspection, installation, testing, service, and repairs on fire extinguishers, exit/emergency lights, and life safety general products. This is a great opportunity to start a career in fire protection and train with experienced technicians in a fast-paced, high-visibility role within the company.

What you will be doing
  • Learn how to inspect, test, service, and repair fire extinguishers, exit/emergency lights, and general life safety products
  • Troubleshoot and perform service and repair of fire extinguishers, exit/emergency lights, and general life safety products
  • Record and document inspections, repairs, discrepancies, and recommendations either electronically or manually
  • Maintain a positive relationship with the customer and pass information to the appropriate personnel for follow-up, quotes, questions, or concerns
  • Spend time with shop technicians learning how to recharge extinguishers and properly stock trucks
  • Maintain equipment and tools necessary to safely perform the job
  • Evaluate customer sites for additional equipment and services that may be required
  • Work in compliance with the Company’s safety program
  • Discuss deficiencies noted with customers, explaining the problem and its resolution
  • Occasional work on nights, weekends, and/or holidays; some locations may require these demands more than others
  • Be comfortable with heights, ladders or lifts, and confined spaces
Qualifications
  • This is an entry-level position
  • Ability to perform basic math, including fractions, decimals, and percentages
  • Familiarity with basic computer functions and software (Windows, Word, Apple iOS, Android, Outlook) and a willingness to learn industry-specific devices and software
  • Must currently have a valid U.S. driver’s license

Working conditions & physical requirements

Overtime may be required and hours may vary by location. Work environments can range from hot to cold and may involve exposure to dust. Overnight travel to customer locations may be required. Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally and perform frequent lifting and carrying of tools, equipment, and materials. Frequent ladder use, climbing, bending, crouching, kneeling, and overhead work. Driving is required and PPE must be worn as per safety standards.
