Job Summary

An opportunity has arisen within Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust for a Band 5 Physiotherapist to join a 6‑month rotation scheme across St Mary's Hospital, Charing Cross Hospital and Hammersmith Hospital. The scheme includes rotations in Stroke, Respiratory, Community, Medicine, Neurosurgery, Musculoskeletal, Paediatrics, Neuro‑Rehabilitation & Orthopaedics with core focus on Physiotherapy, Medicine, and Respiratory. This role is a permanent, full‑time, 7‑day service requiring weekend work.

Responsibilities
  • Plan and deliver patient‑centred therapy services in hospital and community settings.
  • Accountably manage all aspects of own work, including patient management and legal responsibilities.
  • Provide advice, education and support to patients and carers to facilitate meaningful participation in life roles.
  • Communicate effectively in ward rounds, meetings and case conferences regarding caseload.
  • Maintain accurate patient records in line with legal, trust and professional standards.
  • Collect, collate and report statistical information per department and trust policy.
  • Develop clinical and teaching skills through continuous professional development (CPPD) and maintain a current CPPD portfolio.
Qualifications
Essential
  • Professional degree qualification in Physiotherapy.
  • Registered with HCPC.
Desirable
  • Membership of a professional body.
  • Membership of a specialist section.
  • Degree classification of upper second class honours or above (or equivalent).
Experience
Essential
  • Experience managing physical disability.
  • Experience across a wide range of clinical placements.
  • Assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of therapy interventions.
  • Liaison with professional colleagues, carers and relatives in hospital and community.
  • Experience applying professional standards and codes of conduct in a clinical setting.
  • Experience using evidence‑based practice.
Desirable
  • Recent junior experience in a structured rotational scheme.
  • Knowledge of clinical governance issues related to patient care.
Skills & Knowledge
Essential
  • Ability to work in a multidisciplinary team.
  • Use in‑depth knowledge of anatomy, physiology and pathology to inform clinical decision‑making.
  • Manage a clinical caseload and cope with pressures and prioritisation.
