If you are a newly qualified HCPC registered Dietitian looking to kickstart your dietetic career, we have a great opportunity for you. We are recruiting a band 5 rotational Dietitian to join our busy Dietetic team in one of the South West’s largest teaching hospitals. The successful applicant will work alongside experienced colleagues delivering a wide range of nutritional interventions across our specialist pathways.
This post sits within UHBW’s adult Nutrition and Dietetic Service, comprising approximately 60 Dietitians and Dietetic Support Workers. The post is based at Bristol Royal Infirmary, a city centre hospital in a vibrant city.
This vacancy is for a band 5 rotational post which will primarily support our surgical pathways. The rotational programme moves band 5 Dietitians through cardiology, respiratory, surgery and stroke pathways with each rotation lasting 12 months.
Band 5 Dietitians typically cover a range of medical, surgical and rehabilitation wards. The caseload is predominantly inpatient, with potential outpatient responsibilities including general clinics, MDT lipid clinic and cardiac rehab depending on the rotation.
You will benefit from working alongside specialist dietitians with expertise in gastroenterology, diabetes, critical care, surgery and oncology. You will gain experience in supporting food policy initiatives, promoting MUST screening, and have opportunities to deliver training and education to patients and healthcare staff.
We have developed competencies for band 5 dietitians to support your development. You will have access to regular clinical supervision and opportunities to undertake continued professional development. The department offers training to A, B and C placement students from the University of Plymouth. Once you have completed supervisory skills training and are settled in your role, you will contribute to the clinical teaching and assessment of students on placement.
The department provides a service on Saturdays, which you will contribute to once every 8 weeks with a corresponding day off in the working week. We also operate a bank holiday service, with each staff member covering 2 bank holiday dates per year.
