Please note this position is part-time/ casual – two (2) days a week and availability is required for Fridays and Sundays between 9:30am–5:00pm.

Summary of Position

Responsible to perform the duties and responsibilities of the rooms, laundry and public area attendant. Responsible for maintaining optimum customer service and the housekeeping department standards. Will involve evening and weekend work. Seasonal summer and year round positions available.

Key Relationships

Internally: Provide essential information to department heads and employees.

Externally: Occasional contact with all guests requiring exceptional customer service.

Qualifications

Education

Essential: 1. Ability to communicate and comprehend both orally and written in English with employees and customers.

Desirable: 1. WHMIS certificate.

2. Pursuing or completed High School Diploma or Vocational equivalent

Knowledge

Desirable: 1. Previous experience in a cleaning position

2. Previous hotel and resort experience

Skills & Abilities

Essential:

1. Ability to operate cleaning equipment i.e. vacuum.

2. Excellent customer service skills in order to maintain an exceptional rapport with customers and employees.

3. Ability to follow directions in a timely manner.

4. Self-starter and ability to work independently.

5. Ability to work cooperatively with employees and managers as part of a team.

6. Ability to focus attention on details, prioritize, organize and follow up. 7. Ability to work in a time efficient manner.

Special Requirements: Ability to operate a motorized vehicle i.e. Golf Cart, Van or Truck as per company policy & procedure.

Note: Not all employees are required to operate company vehicles.

Mental & Physical Effort

Mental: Extensive attentiveness and listening when handling guests; frequently listening to directions from supervisors and managers.

Physical: Long periods of standing and walking; frequent bending, stretching, kneeling and lifting; repetitive arm and shoulder movements; frequent lifting of laundry bags, linens, towels, tables, flip charts, TVs, VCRs and chairs up to 25 lbs; repetitive pulling, lifting, reaching, bending and movement.

Duties and Responsibilities

1. Maintain knowledge of and comply with company and departmental policies and procedures.

2. Maintain knowledge of fire and health & safety policies and procedures.

3. Attend training workshops and meetings to maintain knowledge.

4. Maintain client and company confidence by keeping information confidential.

5. Maintain positive working relationships with team members and management.

8. Set up and organize housekeeping cart and work area with designated supplies and maintain cleanliness at all times.

9. Provide excellent customer service and professional communication with guests, visitors and employees at all times.

10. Ensure guests and visitors are greeted with the company standard greetings at all times.

11. Read and interpret notes to determine room assignments.

12. Clean and make up rooms (interior and exterior areas) as per standards and assignments.

13. Vacuum, dust and mop as required.

14. Stock guest coffee area and ensure adequate supply in designated rooms and public areas.

15. Maintain and stock all guest rooms; report malfunctions to maintenance.

16. Laundry for the cottages.

Working Conditions
  • Required to work outdoors and indoors; climate will vary.
  • Frequently work with a large variety of cleaning products.
  • Operate a motorized vehicle to transport supplies as needed.
