Overview

The Validus Market Risk Solutions team works with clients to manage event‑driven FX and interest‑rate risk. Our clients include many of the largest and most prestigious institutional investors across private equity, credit and real asset markets.

Based in London, the Market Risk Solutions team provides specialist front, middle and back office outsourced services for private capital managers, institutional investors and corporate clients.

Responsibilities
  • Risk identification and quantification projects
  • Designing and presenting hedging solutions to internal and external clients
  • Establishing trading infrastructure (trading lines, long‑form confirmations, ISDA agreements) with investment banks and other counterparties
  • Communicating and coordinating hedging activity with clients
  • Executing derivative trades (as agent) on behalf of clients
  • Ensuring best execution across a variety of derivatives (FX, interest rates, commodities, futures)
  • Managing and developing strong relationships with clients and across our global banking panel of 50+ banks
  • Proactively working with clients and Validus colleagues to optimize hedging portfolios
Requirements
  • Identify and promote FX and IR risk solutions for clients relating to event‑driven risks
  • Pricing and trade execution of FX and IR hedging products related to event‑driven risks
  • Monitor FX and rates markets to proactively assist clients with the risk management of their exposures
  • Communicate market insights to clients and host periodic calls
  • Ensure client best‑execution trading processes are adhered to in every transaction
  • Manage client relationships
  • Manage counterparty relationships (banks, dealers)
  • Provide training and support to junior team members
  • Carry out ad‑hoc project work and any other ancillary tasks as assigned by the department head
  • 3‑5+ years of professional experience in the FX markets focused on providing hedging support to corporate or institutional clients
Job Details

Job title: Trading Controls Manager
Location: London and Edinburgh
Hours: Full‑time – 35 hours per week
Working pattern: Hybrid – at least two days per week at either the Edinburgh or London office

Key Qualifications
  • Postgraduate/undergraduate degree in a quantitative subject (e.g., finance, economics, engineering, math, statistics)
  • Strong communication and presentation skills (written and verbal)
  • Deep knowledge of FX markets and macro drivers
  • Excellent attention to detail
