Job description
Overview

1 Full time (37.5 hours per week) post to work between North and North East Lincolnshire, based primarily in Brigg/Scunthorpe/Grimsby, with occasional travel to Hull and East Riding screening venues.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic, flexible and motivated person to join the Humber Diabetic Eye Screening Programme as a Retinal Screening Photographer. The successful applicant will work with the Diabetic Eye screening team and be responsible for providing visual acuity examinations and digital photography during diabetic eye screening clinics.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct visual acuity examinations
  • Perform digital photography of the retina in a dark environment within an office or mobile unit
  • Provide patient management during clinics to ensure a timely screening process
  • Receive full in-house training to administer eye drops and prepare patients for photography
Qualifications and Training
  • Must hold a current and full driving license and undertake a trust driving assessment
  • Post holder to work towards and complete a Health Screener Diploma in Retinal Screening
  • Support to complete training requirements and the NHS Screener diploma with an allocated mentor/assessor
  • Complete the 4 mandatory units of the Health Screener Diploma within 4 months of appointment to work independently; remaining qualification to be completed within 2 years
Terms and Conditions
  • Travel to base of work; travel expenses are not provided
  • Possibility of weekend work in future due to service transformations
  • Must be able to travel to screening venues and work in a mobile unit as required
