Overview

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a motivated, enthusiastic and innovative individual to join our asthma team as a respiratory nurse specialist for a 12‑month secondment.

Responsibilities
  • Work collaboratively with patients and professional staff to deliver high‑quality care in both hospital and community settings.
  • Visit patients in the acute setting to review their asthma and, where appropriate, suggest amended plans of care and follow‑up.
  • Work in the asthma biological injection clinic and other outpatient clinics following a period of training and supervision.
  • Contribute to smoking cessation support and health promotion.
  • Communicate effectively at all levels, manage your own caseload, demonstrate effective teamwork and participate in ongoing audit programmes.
  • Provide valuable support to patients admitted to hospital with an exacerbation of asthma or who are under the care of the asthma clinic at Salford Royal.
  • Act as a role model to staff working outside the expert team.
  • Maintain patient records and databases and have knowledge of the current respiratory pathways.
Qualifications
  • Qualified nurse with post‑registration experience.
  • Excellent computer/IT skills including Microsoft Office.
  • Highly motivated with excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Experience in clinical audit and data collection is desirable.
  • Experience working within the respiratory specialty is desirable.
Work setting

This post is a 12‑month secondment to cover maternity leave and to ensure that the requirements of the service are met; it is full time. There may be a requirement to work within the community clinic setting. Full training will be provided.
