Job description

Are you looking for a role that specialises in children's residential care, can offer you flexible hours that fit around your other commitments, and can hold a full UK manual driving licence? Pebbles Care is building a zero‑hour workforce that will provide additional support for children and young people across the Lancashire region. Our zero‑hour employees are eligible for our fantastic employee benefits, and you will have full access to internal opportunities for progression throughout the company.

Responsibilities
  • Ensure children and young people are cared for in every aspect of their lives, including keeping them safe from harm, supporting education, cooking, cleaning, and participating in fun activities.
  • Support care teams across several homes in the same area.
  • Receive full induction, shadow shifts, and in‑depth training, including a full introduction to Therapeutic Parenting.
  • Cover as many shifts as possible. Must carry out at least one shift every four weeks to remain in the role.
  • Safeguard children and young people – highly responsible and accountable.
  • Have a desire to pursue child care qualifications and training.
  • Possess a nurturing and caring nature.
  • Demonstrate patience and resilience, allowing you to form non‑judgmental relationships.
  • Be an active and supportive listener.
  • Show a creative ability towards having fun and learning new skills.
  • Have excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Be proficient in IT and experienced in using Microsoft packages.
  • Hold a full, valid UK manual driver’s licence (all homes have their own manual vehicles).
Qualifications & Requirements
  • A full, valid UK manual driver’s licence.
  • Desirable: One year's experience working with children or young adults.
  • Desirable: SCQF Level 7 (Scotland) or Level 3 Diploma (England) relevant to Children and Young People’s Residential workforce or willingness to work towards this.
  • Familiar with codes of practice set out by regulatory bodies (e.g., SSSC/Ofsted).
  • Existing PVG/DBS certificate or willingness to obtain one.
