Job Overview

Pebbles Care has an incredible part‑time opportunity to partner with our established team and become an essential part of children’s lives. Your role as a Residential Child Care Worker will involve driving children to and from school, appointments and visits (a full UK manual driving licence is required), preparing food, household chores, and creating lasting memories through fun‑filled activities, outings and holidays. You will work part‑time in a dedicated team, averaging 28.2 hours per week, providing one‑to‑one or two‑to‑one support for young people. You will be based within one home on a full‑time basis and may occasionally support other homes in the same area.

Key Responsibilities
  • Drive children to and from school, appointments, and visits.
  • Prepare meals and manage household chores.
  • Plan and facilitate fun activities, outings and holidays.
  • Provide one‑to‑one or two‑to‑one care and support to young people.
  • Collaborate with the team on shift and participate in therapeutic care training.
  • Support additional homes within the same geographical area when required.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Dedication to safeguarding children and young individuals.
  • Strong desire to obtain qualifications and continue personal development.
  • Confident and resilient nature.
  • A valid, full UK manual driver’s licence.
  • Kind, supportive and patient.
  • Ability to build non‑judgmental relationships.

  • Creative and able to bring fun and learning into activities.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient IT skills, experience using Microsoft packages.
  • Desirable Qualities
    • Up to 12 months experience working with children or young adults (additional grade may apply for more experience).
    • Working toward or desire to obtain SCQF Level 7 or Level 3 Diploma relevant to children and young people residential workforce (funding may be available).
    • Familiar with codes of practice set out by regulatory bodies.
    • Existing PVG/DBS certificate.
Compensation, Hours & Benefits
  • Starting salary £17,359.55 to £17,741.83 per annum pro rata, depending on experience.
  • Part‑time rota pattern of one day on and two days off, averaging 10 monthly shifts.
  • Average weekly working hours 28.2—flexible contracts available if needed.
  • Pro‑rated annual leave 5.6 weeks per annum.
