Job Title: Residential Buyer (Temporary Contract)

The Opportunity

Our client is seeking an experienced Residential Buyer to join their team on a temporary basis, starting as soon as possible. This role is a key part of the procurement function, ensuring the smooth delivery of materials and services to support high-quality residential developments.

Responsibilities
  • Managing the procurement of construction materials, plant, and services for residential projects.
  • Building and maintaining strong supplier relationships to ensure quality, reliability, and cost efficiency.
  • Preparing tender enquiries, negotiating terms, and placing orders in line with programme and budget requirements.
  • Monitoring supplier performance and resolving issues relating to delivery, quality, or service.
  • Working closely with site teams, quantity surveyors, and technical staff to ensure materials arrive in line with build schedules.
  • Tracking procurement costs and reporting on variances, identifying opportunities for savings.
  • Supporting continuous improvement in procurement and supply chain processes.
Candidate Profile
  • Proven experience in a buying/procurement role within the residential construction or housebuilding sector.
  • Strong negotiation and communication skills, with the ability to develop long-term supplier partnerships.
  • Good commercial awareness and experience managing budgets.
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to handle multiple priorities.
  • IT proficiency, including procurement systems and Microsoft Office.
  • A proactive, problem-solving approach with strong attention to detail.
