Overview

Executes work with autonomy, proactively aligning with the wider team to understand priorities and deliver allocated and self-identified work.

Responsibilities
  • Technical expert responsible for maintaining expertise in a specific technical domain.
  • Responsible for intellectual property creation, contributing to patent filing with their team and supporting IPR exploitation where appropriate.
  • Accountable for performing research in a specific domain (e.g., Cyber Immune Security) or area that is typically unknown, complex, high impact and high value across multiple domains.
  • Responsible for authoring technical papers and capturing intellectual property.
  • Responsible for developing novel research work and contributing towards recommendations for future research projects.
  • Drives own performance to effectively contribute to wider team measures.
  • Ensures that mandatory compliance, regulatory, data, security and informational requirements are maintained and recorded.
  • Ensures all work on equipment is in accordance with documented procedures and practices as provided by BT and its suppliers, agreeing any changes with the appropriate source.
  • Agrees appropriate actions and proactively takes ownership to resolve issues.
  • Responsible and supporting the implementation of assigned projects or work packages as required, presenting and representing business data with internal/external customers as required.
Qualifications
  • BSc (or equivalent) or higher in Computer science, data science, mathematics, physics, cybersecurity or related fields.
  • Technical domain expert: mandatory evidence of knowledge, skill or experience in the following areas:
  • Strong and hands-on experience in ML/AI.
  • Demonstrable programming skills such as Python and C++.
  • Cybersecurity knowledge.
  • Open source software.
  • Problem-solving, troubleshooting, attention to detail, and data analysis.
  • Hands-on lab experience.
  • Collaborative research PoC design and run experience (mandatory).
  • Curious and innovative: ability to learn, identify new innovations and act to bring them in and create value (mandatory).
  • Interpersonal skills: strong communication, teamwork, and adaptability (mandatory).
  • Commercial applicability: understanding business case principles around relevant innovations and the real value to the business through value proposition building (mandatory).
  • Problem solving, intellectually curious, comfortable taking ownership and responsibility (mandatory).
