Responsibilities
- Inspect, analyse, and troubleshoot R&D equipment, liaising with equipment engineers and suppliers as necessary.
- Read and interpret equipment manuals, and coordinate with relevant professionals to ensure the smooth day-to-day operation of equipment.
- Set up and run tests, accurately interpret results, and make informed recommendations.
- Prepare reports, ensure compliance with safety regulations, and implement preventative maintenance plans for the R&D laboratory.
- Conduct and support scientific investigations and experiments in line with research objectives.
- Carry out risk assessments and CoSHH evaluations of equipment and materials.
- Order, maintain, and monitor R&D laboratory stock and resources.
- Prepare and present technical reports and presentations on completed work where required.
- Understand and adhere to company procedures applicable to the R&D Centre and other departments.
- Demonstrate commitment to continuous improvement across all key activities.
- Take responsibility for specific equipment, ensuring its regular operation and maintenance.
- Prepare Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Manufacturing Instructions/Operations, and Risk Assessments, ensuring alignment with the approach defined by the Team Leader.
- Maintain a professional mindset and commitment to working in a laboratory environment on a daily basis.
About You
We are looking for someone who has good practical skills and prior experience and / or knowledge of sintering, soldering and electronic device assembly processes, however full training will be given. You will have a dedication to quality and excellence in all aspects of your work, and who aims to constantly learn and improve. To be considered for the role we are looking for:
Skills & Experience
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team, depending on project requirements.
- Capable of explaining technical issues clearly to both specialist and non-specialist colleagues.
- Experience in managing and working on multiple projects simultaneously.
- Strong attention to detail, with the ability to follow established guidelines and procedures.
- Knowledge or experience in semiconductor manufacturing, packaging, processes, and materials is desirable.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office software packages.
- Knowledge of, and experience in, preparing Risk and CoSHH assessments.
- Ability to present test data clearly and meaningfully to facilitate understanding by team members.
Education / Qualifications / Professional Memberships
- A-levels or equivalent qualification in a Science-related discipline.
- HNC / HND in an engineering, electronics or science related subject is desirable.
