Job description
Project Overview

We are seeking a motivated Research Assistant to join a proof‑of‑principle project investigating risk factors for rarer dementia subtypes using electronic health records (EHR). The project aims to:

  • Assess the availability and capacity of primary EHR data to develop a minimum dataset for rarer dementias.
  • Conduct a pilot analysis using Clinical Practice Research Datalink (CPRD) data to explore whether the Lancet Commission identified risk factors for dementia are consistent across subtypes or vary by dementia type.

You will work with us for a period of 6 months and will be required to clean, format, and analyse primary care data (from CPRD) related to dementia and its associated risk factors.

The role will be positioned within the Dementia Health and Social Care Inequalities Research Group in the Department of Primary Care and Mental Health, based in the Waterhouse building on the University of Liverpool campus. This project is funded by the ESRC (Economic Social Research Council) (SPIN‑D+ network) and you will be working directly with Dr James Coleman Watson, Dr Megan Rose Readman, and the wider team.

Responsibilities
  • Be responsible for cleaning and preparing CPRD data for analysis.
  • Assist with project administration, reporting, and dissemination activities.
Qualifications

You should have an undergraduate or masters degree with expertise in quantitative research methods, or equivalent experience.

This is a fixed‑term post available at 0.2% FTE (1 day per week) for 6 months.
