Summary: We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Medicines Optimisation Pharmacist (Band 8a) to join our dynamic team at NHS Jobs. As a key player in our organization, you will contribute to the implementation, delivery, and monitoring of the Alliances and ICBs medicines optimisation strategy. The primary focus of this role is to enhance health outcomes, reduce avoidable harm, and avoid waste through expert advice on matters related to medicines optimisation and prescribing.

Responsibilities
  • Support the implementation and delivery of medicines optimisation strategies.
  • Provide expert advice on medicines optimisation and prescribing.
  • Contribute to the commissioning of safe and effective services that meet the needs of the local population.
  • Ensure cost-effective use of resources, reduced risks associated with medicines use, and improved patient outcomes and experience.
  • Collaborate with health and care professionals to integrate medicines practice across the system.
  • Promote safe, evidence-based, and cost-effective use of medicines.
  • Provide up-to-date, unbiased information about medicines, treatments, and care pathways.
  • Support practitioners and patients in making the best use of medicines.
  • Minimize harm caused by medicines and develop local guidelines and care pathways.
  • Support other health and care providers to deliver high-quality, efficient, safe, well-led, timely, responsive, effective, and equitable medicines optimisation.
